2025 Federal Tax Calendar for Individuals and Sole Proprietors

January 15, 2025:

Fourth quarter estimated tax payments for 2024 are due.

April 15, 2025:

Individual income tax returns (Form 1040) for 2024 are due.

First quarter estimated tax payments for 2025 are due.

June 15, 2025:

Second quarter estimated tax payments for 2025 are due.

September 15, 2025:

Third quarter estimated tax payments for 2025 are due.

October 15, 2025:

Extended deadline for individual income tax returns (Form 1040) for 2024.

2025 Federal Tax Calendar for Partnerships,

S Corps, and

C Corporations

March 15, 2025

Partnership (Form 1065) and S Corporation (Form 1120S) tax returns for 2024 are due.

Deadline to file for an automatic six-month extension.

April 15, 2025

C Corporation (Form 1120) tax returns for 2024 are due.

Deadline to file for an automatic six-month extension.

September 15, 2025:

Extended deadline for Partnership and S Corporation tax returns.

Third quarter estimated tax payments for 2025 are due.

October 15, 2025:

Extended deadline for C Corporation tax returns.

Please note that if a due date falls on a weekend or federal holiday, the deadline is typically extended to the next business day.

 

 

2025 California State Tax Calendar

January 15, 2025:

Fourth quarter estimated tax payments for 2024 are due.

April 15, 2025:

Individual income tax returns (Form 1040) for 2024 are due.

First quarter estimated tax payments for 2025 are due.

June 15, 2025:

Second quarter estimated tax payments for 2025 are due.

September 15, 2025:

Third quarter estimated tax payments for 2025 are due.

October 15, 2025:

Extended deadline for individual income tax returns (Form 1040) for 2024.

2025 Extended Deadlines Due to Federally Declared Disasters

The IRS provides tax relief to individuals and businesses in areas affected by federally declared disasters by extending filing and payment deadlines. The states generally conform or have additional tax relief. .

As of now, the following extensions have been announced:

California Wildfires (Beginning January 7, 2025):

Affected individuals and businesses in parts of California have until October 15, 2025, to file federal individual and business tax returns and make tax payments that were originally due during the period from January 7, 2025, through October 15, 2025.

Hurricane Helene (Beginning September 24, 2024):

Affected individuals and businesses in the entire state of Georgia have until May 1, 2025, to file federal individual and business tax returns and make tax payments that were originally due during the period from September 24, 2024, through May 1, 2025.

Post-Tropical Storm Helene (Specific Dates Not Provided):

Affected individuals and businesses in West Virginia have until May 1, 2025,to file federal individual and business tax returns and make tax payments.

Important Considerations:

Automatic Relief: The IRS automatically provides filing and penalty relief to any taxpayer with an IRS address of record located in the disaster area. Taxpayers do not need to contact the IRS to get this relief.

Penalty Relief: The IRS will abate penalties on payroll and excise tax deposits due during the disaster period as long as the deposits are made by the extended deadline.

Installment Agreements: The IRS and the state will generally abate penalties on late paid installment agreement if not extend them for the year.
